Cabbage Seeds

Cabbage plants are cool weather plants doing well when planted out in early spring, just prior to the last frost dates, with subsequent plantings done in mid-summer for fall harvests. Because cabbage plants are heavy feeders, while cabbage seedlings are hardening off add 1 cup of Espoma® 10-10-10 garden food for each 10 ft. of row, along with ample amounts of leaf compost which will keep cabbage plants satisfied through harvest. For small-headed cabbage plants, space them 18 inches apart, and 24 inches apart for larger headed varieties. Plant seedlings adequately deep, as they will root along the stem like other Cole crops.
