Annual producer of delicious fruits and is very hardy. This is a beautiful European plum that bears large, plump, deep blue, freestone fruits that are well suited for eating fresh or for preserves and jam. Makes great plum-butter. This is the perfect variety for canning and freezing, but you'll want to eat as many fresh as possible. Mount Royal is a heavy producer. Fruit ripens mid to late August. Self-fertile, does not require cross pollination by another variety.
