A Yellow version of our famous Goliath Silo or Ensilage Corn, particularly popular in the eastern part of the Corn Belt. Originated in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, around the turn of the century. Color is deep yellow. Ears are the longest of any of our field corns, 10 to 12 inches long, but not as wide as Goliath. Kernels are large and deep. Surface slightly rough. Stalks grow extremely tall, 10 to 12 feet high, with heavy, leafy foliage. Leaves, like Goliath, are broad and long. Strong root system for better resistance to wind or drought. Primarily used as a silo corn and nearly the equal of Goliath in fodder production. Widely adapted, but particularly popular in the eastern part of the Corn Belt and in areas where yellow corn is preferred to white corn. Used extensively in the Deep South. Seed is untreated. Matures in 110-120 days and is classed as medium late.
