Outstanding variety under adverse conditions and where disease resistance is important. Pods are straight, tender, low in fiber and about 6 inches long. Hardy, with excellent resistance to plant disease of any sort, particularly Common Bean Mosaic, or N.Y. 15 Bean Mosaic. Highly productive under a wide range of conditions. Very slow to wilt. Brown seeded.

When my hubby joined me in planting a garden behind our home, we had our very first difference of opinion, he was not going to allow me to plant my brown seeded Provider beans! I told him to plant his favorite green bean on the other side of garden That I had the technology to pick and cook both varieties at once. Provider came up first so I put a huge pot of green beans and potatoes on simmer while a friend and I went to a meeting. When we came back I got 2 bowls from the cupboard and cut the cornbread, however before we even took 1 ladle from the pot he began to apologize he said he kept trying not to eat too much but just couldn't stop! We had 2 very small bowls of green beans and potatoes and a lot of cornbread. He dug up his green bean patch and planted MY Provider beans. He past away in April 2025 and I still hear him saying Just the beans and a piece of cornbread as big as my head, that's all I want every time I see green beans. My friend was invited to another green bean and potatoes dinner and got to tease him about his FEAST so all is well that ends well. The name Provider should encourage you to think extra prolific because they are, tasty and prolific. Try them once and you will never want another variety
